Welcome!!!
Brooklyn Park Ponies Hockey Players and Families

Welcome to the 2000-2001 Hockey Season. Brooklyn Park has one of the best hockey associations in the state. The strength of the association is due in part to the parents. The commitment of the parents is the key to the success of the association. Part of the commitment is volunteering. As a continual cost saving measure, all families involved in Brooklyn Park Youth Hockey will be asked to tend the concession stand 1-2 times per year for 2-4 hour "shifts". Volunteers are also needed for ticket sales, etc. during tournaments. Cost savings associated with parent volunteering has contributed to manageable registration fees and increased ice-time for all players. A sign-up sheet will be presented by your "hockey mom" / manager. If you find you cannot make your "shift", it is your responsibility to find a replacement. On the bright side, most parents report they actually enjoy their "shift" and find it a good way to meet other parents.

The Pony program is the entry level into hockey for your child. The majority of the numerous hours your child is on the ice will be dedicated to learning the skating skills necessary to advance to the next level. We will be following the teaching guidelines established by USA Hockey. Please remember, every child learns at a different pace. Having fun while learning is our main objective.

Along with those things mentioned above please make note of these additional parent responsibilities:

  1. You MUST notify your head coach if your child will be missing a practice or game.
  2. You MUST have your child in the locker room ready to skate 15 minutes before your ice time. This is the designated time for coaches and managers to talk to players and families and it is very important. There will not always be 15 minutes of discussion but it is the standard procedure to allow for that time.

Please feel free to call me with any questions or concerns you may have.
